Nirvana is a megacorporation with enormous political and economic control over DisCity. It operates directly under the authority of Paradeisos, and thus is allowed to hold a monopoly over the research, mining, processing, sale, and export of Hypercubes, the resource which is critical to DisCity's survival and that of all humanity in the post-Nightfall era.
In the early days of the city, Nirvana relied on vast numbers of miners and machinery to operate its Hypercube industry in the Inner Bay. However, in N.F. 104, the company successfully developed autonomous mining technology and transferred its headquarters and core assets to Eastside. Immediately thereafter, Nirvana announced it was abandoning its assets in the contaminated Inner Bay and terminating all labor contracts there. The resulting worker protests led Nirvana to plant secret code in its industrial mechs, which turned on their operators and slaughtered the miners. This massacre ended with the eruption of BR-002 in what was once Nirvana's largest Hypercube mine.
Nirvana Transport is the logistics division of the company, and employs Kelvin's parents. It may have replaced the Nirvana fleet, the Syndicate convoy that was dismissed by the company in N.F. 104 and became The Legion. In Nino's interrogation, it is said that her parents left DisCity to work in Nirvana, suggesting that the company may also have dominion over a physical location geographically distant from the city. The Banyan Medical System, while not a direct subsidiary of Nirvana, is also closely tied and largely subservient to the company's interests.
After the outbreak and subsequent destruction of BR-004, Nirvana manipulated DisCity politics to rescind the West District Order Management Regulations and establish the Reconstruction Executive Committee as the new authority over Syndicate. Thus, Nirvana gained administration over the new source of Hypercube production in Keylan Square. However, the REC quickly came into conflict with Drifter Camp, successors to the Inner Bay protestors of a decade years prior. Their battles rapidly escalated into the Ten Days of Rustfire, which challenged and ultimately overturned Nirvana's monopoly on control over Hypercube producing sites.
