Purge Order

A Purge Order is the name of a last-ditch operation by Paradeisos to cause a mass casualty event in order to prevent the spread of Mania in a large geographic area. The details of what a Purge Order entails or how it is undertaken are unknown, but it likely involves a large-scale enforcement of the Rules and kills all or nearly all living things within the affected area. As of March N.F. 113, activating a Purge Order was within the abilities of the Reconstruction Executive Committee.

After the Chief's first battle with the Corpseborne of BR-002 in Drifter Camp, Paradeisos became concerned with the deteriorating condition of Syndicate, the rising power of Rustfire, and the risk of a second Black Ring outbreak in less than a year. Fearing that the Underground Shepherd would consume the Corpseborne and become too powerful for them to contend with, Paradeisos decided to enact a Purge Order in the district. The 6.5 million expected casualties were considered to be within the realm of acceptable losses, and some in Paradeisos believed that the removal of less stable elements in Syndicate would elevate the overall standards of DisCity's population. The Order was delayed by Shalom's suggestion of an alternative plan to eliminate the Underground Shepherd, but during the rapid expansion of BR-002 six months later, Paradeisos ultimately decided to execute a Purge Order so as to weaken Corpus 002 before it could be consumed by the Underground Shepherd. It was only averted through the unorthodox actions of the Chief, who was narrowly able to defeat the Corpus before the Purge Order could be carried out.
