Outland is a general term encompassing all areas outside of DisCity. In era following Nightfall, some small number of cities survived the catastrophes that swept the world. Others sprung up as satellite towns and settlements around DisCity as refuges. In the following years, many of those Outland towns grew into city-states of their own with close trade ties to DisCity. Relations with these cities is governed by the Outland Affairs Bureau, and trade between them mostly involves exchanging DisCity's energy and household goods for Outland's precious metals. While they all have their own niche resources, the absolute strategic importance of the Hypercube means that trade remains under DisCity's control.
Known Outland Locations
Satellite Towns
A number of small towns exist as dependent suburbs of DisCity. Existing on the edge of WhiteSands, satellite towns have a high turnover rate, with old ones regularly being destroyed by the Tide of Ashes and new ones continuously popping up due to people trying to to either escape from or cling closer to DisCity's influence.
◆ Hess Village
A satellite village of DisCity, Hess Village is a farming community that provides produce in exchange for Hypercubes and other resources. In recent years, its younger population has largely left for the city, depopulating the village. To make matters worse, it is an easy target for desert raiders from WhiteSands.
◆ Pearlie Village
A satellite village southeast of DisCity, Pearlie is named for the purple flowers that grew in the desert around the town. Residents of Pearlie Village used them to make a purple dye, which was exported to DisCity and from there to the rest of the world. Pearlie Village is now abandoned, having been overtaken by the desert sands.
◆ Sutter Village
The closest village to DisCity, its environment in WhiteSands continues to go downhill, and many have left to seek a better life in Eastside.
Western Continent
The Western Continent, as the location of DisCity, is the center of civilization in the post-Nightfall world. In addition to DisCity, it houses multiple other city-states, though little about its specific geography is known.
◆ Fraser City
Described as a "behemoth on a desert oasis", Fraser City is the largest known settlement outside DisCity. It is ruled by the Campbell Family, of which Eirene Campbell is the head; the Campbells maintain a dictatorial grip on almost every important sector in the city. It is an economic and military rival to DisCity, and uses desert bandits to control trade through the WhiteSands. Fraser City's exports include precious metals and designs for sand cruisers.
◆ Mayek
A city-state located 2,000 kilometers north of DisCity, Mayek was destroyed by a nuclear disaster in N.F. 102 when its pre-Nightfall power plant exploded. Pacassi is the city's last survivor.
Eastia
(Full article: Eastia)//
A distant continent, trade and communication between DisCity and Eastia are rare and difficult due to vast dangers of the world between them. Eastians possess vastly different cultures and technologies from DisCity, including a practice of venerating Sinners as "Seers" and harnessing Mania sorcery to protect themselves from the dangers of the post-Nightfall world. For a time in N.F. 112-4, it was believed in DisCity that the entire continent of Eastia had sunk into the sea.
◆ Goldionville
A far-away citystate on a distant continent, Goldionville is the hometown of OwO. It is most notable for its tradition of lion dancing.
◆ Sunsink City
A central city located in the eastern part of Eastia, Sunsink City is a relatively new City-State, having been built on the ruins of the disaster-struck Sunset Town. Sunsink City is the home of Du Ruo, Yanyan, and Xu.
