The Gray-Haired Girl

Profile

Basic Information

Name: Unknown
Birthplace: Syndicate
Affiliation: Ted's Gang, The Homeless (possibly)
Gender: Female

Background

The Gray-Haired Girl is a Sinner who was enslaved by the Yagyu gang, then sold to Ted and raised as a weapon. She is a young, thin girl with hollow, emotionless eyes. Dark mist emanates from her body and she is able to fire black beams as well as exerting some limited amount of control over Mania-infected gangsters. Later, when she is on the verge of transforming into a Corruptor, she displays the ability to summon monsters and to control the black substance that pours out of her mutating body. She says that there is somebody out there waiting for her, but who she was referring to is a mystery, possibly The Homeless.

Role

SALVA Chaos

The Gray-Haired Girl appears amidst the Mania-infected gangsters, seemingly able to direct them to some degree to attack the Chief. She strikes the Chief with a beam of black energy, but is shot several times and forced to flee by Ted. Later, when the Chief is captured by SALVA, the Gray-Haired Girl is being treated for her gunshot wounds. The Chief is terrified, remembering her previous attempt to kill them, but she ignores their panic -- if not for her wounds, she would seem almost an entirely different person.

Later, a nightmare results in the Gray-Haired Girl's M-Value rising to the 1630s, prompting severe medical alarm. Anne attempts to treat her by bringing her back to reality and stopping her from focusing on her trauma. Iron reveals that the girl has a remote-controlled capsule fulled with liquid Mania crystals attached to the outer wall of her heart. When a signal is received or the device is tampered with, it will dissolve, instantly transforming her into a Corruptor. Judging by her many old wounds, Iron theorizes that she has been abused and made into a weapon. Her M-Value has rapidly risen several times since arriving at SALVA, but she has brought it under control each time through sheer willpower not to become a monster.

When Ted once again attacks SALVA, he triggers the capsule, sending a wave of corruption through the basement of the Hospital. Despite all he has done to her, the girl continues to follow his orders to fight the Chief and their Sinners. The Chief urges her to remember what she is hanging on to life for, and when Ted tortures Anne, who has done so much to try and save her, the girl is finally able to defy his orders. She speaks for the first time, asking Anne whether it is still possible for her to be saved. She says that if she can live on, she will do whatever it takes, even siding with Ted, because someone is still waiting for her; but if she is doomed, then she has no reason to keep obeying him.

If the Chief says that she can still be saved, she angrily retorts that she doesn't want well-meaning lies, but they insist that between the Shackles and SALVA's treatment, there is still hope. Her despair fades, and the mere thought of hope begins to reduce the symptoms of her collapse; but as she reaches out to the Chief, Ted presses the button to release more Mania crystals into her body and she instantly collapses.

If the Chief says that it is too late, she turns on Ted, saying that she knows the reason he has abused her so terribly for so long is because he is afraid of her, hating Sinners but also coveting their power. Before she is able to kill him, she loses control of her powers; she asks the Chief to kill her, and they agree, but ask for her name. The girl says that she can't remember it, and then collapses.

Anne uses her ability to delay her transformation and, refusing to accept that the girl is already dead, takes her into the SALVA basement's secret room, where, as the rumors claimed, the corpses of Corruptors are kept for experimentation.
