Overview
The Eclipse Operation was a top secret mission to the DisSea undertaken by the FAC in N.F. 103 (likely in September). It was directly commanded by Paradeisos and was the FAC’s largest operation since the appearance of BR-001. Responding to an emergency order, the FAC deployed 28 squadrons to secretly go to DisSea and break into BR-000 and attack the Lone Island.
During the operation, Paradeisos was able to use a secret comms code - the first known usage of the superloop communications system - under the designation 05257885, to communicate through the boundary of the Black Ring. This was a feat impossible to reproduce with normal technology, and provided the first evidence to the Underground that Paradeisos had discovered a way to utilize the Deep Mania through the Hush system. Over this comms line, FAC forces within the Black Ring were instructed to hold out as long as possible against the rising tide of DisSea and were promised that reinforcements were on the way. However, despite holding out much longer than the promised amount of time, reinforcements never arrived.
Outcome
With little time and information, the mission resulted in a near-complete extermination of the forces deployed, with Rahu as the only known survivor. Deaths were not limited just to combat personnel; Garofano's father was a transport worker in the FAC's logistics department at the time, and was infected and killed by contaminated materials secretly recovered from the Eclipse Operation. The mission was seen as an enormous stain on the FAC's record, and resulted in severe public backlash against the organization's prestige as well as a partial retraction of its autonomy. The commander who devised the operation went into hiding, and its leader was forced to step down and was replaced with a new Commander-In-Chief.
Despite the humiliation inflicted upon the FAC, the Eclipse Operation was considered a success by Paradeisos, as the operation's true goals were not able to be disclosed to the public. Paradeisos forces succeeded in destroying the Lone Island in DisSea, and recovered classified materials from its base. These materials allowed Paradeisos to undertake the Shepherd Plan shortly thereafter.
The strain of the Eclipse Operation caused the sixth-generation Hush to prematurely reach her limits, and three days later, she was replaced in the role by Shalom.
